Mister Zimi is an Australian born, Direct to Consumer fashion and lifestyle brand. As a pioneer in this space, Mister Zimi has established strong market positioning, built on timeless styles and signature prints you won’t find anywhere else. With a loyal global audience, we pride ourselves on our customer-first approach in everything we do. This is your opportunity to join a loyal, creative team and work for a business that is conscientious, community-driven and focused on improved sustainability.

Role Overview

At Mister Zimi, every day feels like a holiday — and our products are the passport that
takes you there. Reporting to the Head of Production & Sourcing, you will use your
skills and expertise in fit, construction and grading to ensure the technical execution
of Mister Zimi’s product.

Working closely with the product development team, you will be across every stage
of the pre-production process — from attending fit sessions and building specs, to
coordinating fabric testing, managing bulk inspection outcomes, and keeping our
product manual sharp and current. This is a hands-on, detail-driven role for someone
who takes real pride in garment quality and knows that the difference is always in
the details.

Core Responsibilities

Fit & Construction

  • Attend fit sessions and contribute meaningfully to decisions on garment fit, function and consistency.
  • Identify construction and quality issues throughout the fitting process and communicate corrections clearly.
  • Document all fit updates with accuracy and care, keeping records up to date through to approved fit and bulk shipment.
  • Create specs from original samples, photographs and hybrid styles.
  • Review factory digital patterns and communicate fit corrections and grading outcomes with precision.

Production & Technical

  • Measure and assess fit and bulk samples against approved specs.
  • Oversee the issuing of care instructions, labelling and packing methods to protect bulk goods quality through to delivery.
  • Check in-house and third-party bulk goods inspection results and report findings to the CORE Product Developer.
  • Performance-test bulk fabrics and garments, and action any findings with urgency.
  • Sign off spec gradings in line with Mister Zimi standards.
  • Work within the critical path with focus and a clear sense of priorities.

Compliance & Systems

  • Uphold product compliance standards and international regulatory requirements — because getting it right matters.
  • Continually update the Mister Zimi product manual to reflect best practice and evolving regulation guidelines.
  • Record fabric detail and content information for online publishing with care and accuracy.
  • Support internal AI-assisted report checking developments as they evolve.
  • Perform local quality checks when required.
  • Maintain daily communication with offshore suppliers to keep development moving smoothly.
  • Work within Mister Zimi’s social, ethical and environmental policy guidelines — because how we make things matters as much as what we make.
  • Manage internal systems data input with diligence.

Sourcing & Margin

  • Source fabrics and trims that balance design intent with margin requirements — beautiful and commercially smart.
  • Pre-cost new developments before samples are actioned, keeping the business well-positioned from day one.
  • Attend offshore trade fairs and conduct supplier factory and mill visits as required, nurturing the relationships that underpin a successful supply chain.
  • Leads new fabric development from concept: working from bought samples or visual references to develop new base fabrics with mills.
  • Approves and maintains an up-to-date physical sample library (swatches, approved samples, trim cards).
  • Monitors sampling costs and ensures all development activity remains within budget.

Key Internal Relationships

  • Senior Product Developer – Core
  • Senior Product Developer - Emerging categories
  • Product manager

What You Bring

  • Five plus years of womenswear experience, with previous work in woven categories.

  • Sound knowledge of the pre-production process and what it takes to hit a critical path.
  • Experience working with offshore suppliers and managing daily communication across time zones.
